In the morning of May 17, 2018, Ferenc Miszlivetz, Director of iASK gave the architecture students of Babeș-Bolyai University a lecture on integrated urban and regional development practices in Western Pannonia (see: KRAFT project) as well as on the importance of city associations.
Following the lecture, a discussion was held with Csilla Hegedüs, President of Transylvania Trust. The Foundation aims at the preservation of built heritage with special regard to the cultural management of Bánffy Castle in Bonţida. After presentation of the Castle, Csilla Hegedüs outlined the major duties and plans of the Foundation that tally with the range of functions of iASK in many respects including renovation and operation of historic buildings in historical settings while also giving proper, worthy content to renovated buildings and obtainment of necessary funding for maintenance. There are many interlinkages in the everyday duties of the two institutions since a cultural and educational centre operates in the Bánffy Castle as well.
In the evening a meeting was held with the senior professors (Valér Veres, István Horváth, Nándor László Magyari) of the Faculty of Sociology of the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, which took place as a preparation for the meeting of the following day with heads of the Faculty. In the morning of May 18, a consultation was held on scientific cooperation between the Faculty and iASK with the Dean of the Faculty of Sociology of the Babeș-Bolyai University (Assoc. Prof. Paul-Teodor Haragus) and Head of the institution’s Doctoral School (Assoc. Prof. Mihai-Bogdan Iovu). In accordance with the plans of broad scientific cooperation between the two institutions, researchers will be exchanged, and scholarly events will be organized jointly. The jointly drafted agreement has been submitted to the management of the Babeș-Bolyai University for approval.
