Yugoslavia Reloaded: Digital Mourning, Algorithmic Peacebuilding and Cinematic Reconciliation
On Monday, 28thNovember 2022 at 1:30 pm, iASK will host a seminar on reconciliation in former Yugoslavia in person and on Zoom platform. The seminar is titled “Yugoslavia Reloaded: Digital Mourning, Algorithmic Peacebuilding and Cinematic Reconciliation”.
After the dissolution of Yugoslavia, transitional justice failed to achieve reconciliation and reunite the region. While good neighbourly relations are unstable and continuously undermined by the political and sub-political actors, a large part of the region remains to be in a state of permanent, unfinished transition and frozen conflict. Today we can merely talk about the concept of post-reconciliation and alternative peacebuilding strategies that are unofficial, undercurrent and sometimes even unintended. This seminar focuses on novel practices that emerge from cinema, artistic practices and social media.
Participants:
- ZALA PAVŠIČ, CEU Democracy Institute, Budapest & CAS, Rijeka
- RIMANTĖ JAUGAITĖ, University of Bologna & Institute of Culture and Memory Studies at ZRC SAZU, Ljubljana
- IVANA STEPANOVIĆ, iASK, Kőszeg
The event will be held in English, and interested parties can register to participate online at contact@archive.iask.hu.
