On Monday, the people of Kőszeg were invited to a Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony in Jurisics Square by the Institute of Advanced Studies Kőszeg. (iASK). The celebration of light and miracle was attended by Slomó Köves, Chief Rabbi of the United Hungarian Israelite Congregation, representatives of the three other historical churches – Catholic, Lutheran, Calvinist, – Ferenc Miszlivetz (Director General of iASK), Béla Básthy (Mayor of Kőszeg), Prof. Dr. Szabolcs Szita (historian, Holocaust researcher), and Dr. Edit Balázs (historian), lit the eight flames on the nine-branched candlestick, the Hanukkiah.
