Miloslav Bahna
Curriculum Vitae
Miloslav Bahna is senior researcher at the Institute for Sociology, Slovak Academy of Sciences. He is currently chairing the Scientific Council of the Institute and the Slovak Committee for UNESCO MOST Programme. His research focuses on migration and quantitative comparative research.
His book Migration from Slovakia after Accession to the European Union (Migrácia zo Slovenska po vstupe do Európskej únie) (VEDA, 2011) deals with post EU enlargement migration from Slovakia and other new EU member states. His second book Crossborder Care – Lessons from Central Europe about migrant care workers in central Europe is currently under contract with Palgrave Macmillan. He contributed to The Encyclopedia of Global Human Migration (Wiley-Blackwell, 2013) and published in International Migration Review, Population, Space and Place, European Societies and other journals. He is co-founder of the Slovak Archive of Social Data (SASD) and currently represents Slovakia in the pan-European social science archives infrastructure CESSDA-ERIC. He is also a representative of the Institute for Sociology in the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) currently serving in the steering committee of the research programme. Between 2011 and 2017 he was the editor of journal Sociológia – Slovak Sociological Review.
