Tamás Szentes

Tamás J. Szentes is a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Professor Emeritus at the Corvinus University of Budapest. He received his university doctorate in economics from the Karl Marx University in 1959, and Became a Candidate of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1964. He was Associate Professor at Karl Marx University, Department of World Economics, and Senior Research Fellow of the Center for Afro-Asian Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1971-1974), and Emeritus Professor since 2002.

He has served on the East African Social Science Council, Economic Society of Tanzania, and in nnumerous expert groups in the UN, such as the expert group mandated by the UN Asembly to classify least develping countries (1971), the committee preparing the world employment conference of ILO (1975), several expert conferences of UNCTAD, ILO, UNESCO, UNU, WIDER, UNRISD, the Sorbonne subcommittee preparing UNCSTD, the steering committee of the joint research programme of UNCTAD and Third World Forum. He is a founding members of the Association Mondiale de Perspective Sociale,and the Ecoforum for Peace, and vice president of the World Association of International Relations. He is on the international editorial boards of the  SAGE Series on African Modernization and Development, the Scandinavian Journal of Development Alternatives, the Journal of Peace Research, the Review of African Political Economy, Studies on Developing Countries, and Development and Peace.
