On Tuesday, October 18th, iASK will host the lecture of Vedran Džihić, a senior researcher at the OiiP, lecturer at the University of Vienna, a Co-director at the Centre for Advanced Studies of Southeastern Europe CAS SEE and a member of BiEPAG. Our Future of Europe in a Global Context lecture series continues with a discussion about the possible scenarios for the Balkans following the events in Ukraine. The title of the lecture is „The Future of EU-rope in the Balkans: How the War in Ukraine Mixes the Cards Anew?“, and the hybrid event will take place on iASK online platforms and at the beautifully refurbished Europe House in Kőszeg, Hungary. The lecture will be in English and will start at 2 pm. The event will be followed by the Q&A session, and we welcome participants from all over the world to join the event via Zoom. Vedran Džihić is a senior researcher at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs and teaches at the Department of Political Science at the University of Vienna. He is also a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations, School of Advanced International Studies, John Hopkins University, Washington D.C., one of the founding directors of the Centre for Advanced Studies at the University of Rijeka and a member of The Balkans in Europe Policy Advisory Group. His research focuses on democracy and transition processes, European integration, civil society and protest movements, foreign policy, conflict research, and nationalism. His regional focus lies on Eastern and Southeastern Europe and the USA. He has published numerous books, articles and analyses on these questions and is regularly contributing to national and international media.
